Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Dharma-vidhi admits enumerative variation (6 vs 9) depending on prayoga and ṛṣi-mata; authority is plural yet bounded by śāstra.
Vedantic Theme: Śāstra-prāmāṇya with allowance for kalpa-bheda; unity of dharma despite procedural plurality.
Application: When performing rites, follow an accepted local/lineage procedure while recognizing alternate enumerations as valid within śāstric tradition.
Primary Rasa: shanta

This verse clarifies that ritual classifications can vary because sages transmit different traditional frameworks, so the text accommodates multiple authoritative enumerations.
It signals that the rites connected with post-death offerings and sacrificial procedures may be grouped in more than one way (six or nine), depending on the ritual lineage described.
Follow a consistent, learned tradition for śrāddha/yajña practice, recognizing that variant counts or lists can still be orthodox when rooted in rishi-based teachings.
