بقدر السنين التي تُقاس بغبار الأرض المتطاير منها، يمكث واهبُ الأرض في السماء تلك المدة. وأمّا الذين يهبون النعال فيمضون في سفرهم راكبين الخيل.

This verse states that gifting footwear yields a supportive, swift passage symbolized by traveling “mounted on horses,” indicating ease and protection on the difficult post-death journey.
By linking specific gifts to specific outcomes, it frames the post-death route as arduous and aided by merit: donations like footwear provide practical metaphysical support, while major gifts like land grant prolonged heavenly residence.
Practice dāna with intention: donate footwear to those in need and support charitable causes; pair such giving with ethical living, as the Purana presents charity as a concrete expression of dharma that strengthens one’s karmic trajectory.
