Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)

Timing: At homa completion (ho-mānte) within the vṛṣotsarga-associated rite sequence.

Vedantic Theme: Karma-kāṇḍa as purifier (citta-śuddhi) preparing for higher knowledge/devotion.

Application: In any sacred undertaking: begin with proper preparation (adhi-vāsana), maintain right orientation and reverence (pradakṣiṇā), and end with conscious closure (visarjana) rather than abrupt stopping.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Type: ritual space (yajñaśālā/vedi)

FAQs

This verse presents them as essential concluding acts: circumambulation seals the rite in auspicious order, and visarjana formally releases the invoked ritual presence at the end of the homa.

By emphasizing correct performance and completion of post-death homa rites, it supports the broader Preta Kanda theme that proper ritual order aids the departed’s transition and reduces obstacles in the post-mortem journey.

Follow ritual procedures with clarity and completion—begin with proper consecration, maintain auspicious orientation (pradakshina), and always close practices respectfully (visarjana), whether in śrāddha, homa, or daily worship.
