Nirūpaṇa (Nāḍī–Svara-Nirūpaṇam): Breath Currents, Omens, and Action-Timing
अन्यानि शुभकर्माणि कारयेत प्रयत्नतः / दक्षनाडीप्रवाहे तु शनिर्भौमश्च सैहिकः
anyāni śubhakarmāṇi kārayeta prayatnataḥ / dakṣanāḍīpravāhe tu śanirbhaumaśca saihikaḥ
Lord Vishnu (in discourse to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Auspicious conduct should be pursued with effort, while recognizing that subtle bodily indicators and graha-periods affect outcomes and should be heeded.
Vedantic Theme: Prakṛti-conditioned agency (kartṛtva) and the need for viveka in action within embodied limitation.
Application: Maintain steady śubha-kriyā (charity, japa, restraint), but avoid initiating risky acts when right-nāḍī dominance signals harsher/malefic activation; choose calmer timings for major undertakings.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.67.6 (svarodaya as śubha-aśubha viveka); Garuda Purana 1.67.7-9 (nāḍī structure; iḍā-piṅgalā-suşumnā)
This verse stresses deliberate performance of meritorious acts, implying that auspicious conduct and rites are protective and supportive, especially when conditions are considered astrologically or energetically sensitive.
Indirectly: by emphasizing śubha-karmas and subtle/astrological conditions, it reflects the text’s broader framework that post-death outcomes are shaped by karma and the subtle-body environment influencing one’s journey and experiences.
Prioritize ethical, charitable, and devotional actions consistently; if one follows traditional timing practices, treat “inauspicious” periods as reminders to be more careful, disciplined, and focused on constructive deeds.
