FAQs

This verse links direction and placement with ‘phalataḥ’ (practical outcomes), presenting orientation as a dharmic, results-oriented guideline for avoiding inauspicious effects (like anger) and seeking favorable results.

While the Garuda Purana is famous for death rites, it also preserves applied dharma—here, direction-based rules (Īśāna/Āgneya) that govern daily life choices believed to shape one’s mental state and fortune.

Use it as a traditional checklist: when planning an entrance or major threshold, prefer orientations considered auspicious in the text, and treat the teaching as a reminder that environment and choices can influence temperament (e.g., anger) and outcomes.
