Acyuta/Vāsudeva Stotra: Avatāra-Salutations, Ritual Totality, Forgiveness Prayer, and Phalaśruti
त्वं श्रीः प्रभो त्वं मुष्टिसत्वं त्वं माला देव शावती / श्रीवत्सः कौस्तुभस्त्वं हि शार्ङ्गो त्वं च तथेषुधिः
tvaṃ śrīḥ prabho tvaṃ muṣṭisatvaṃ tvaṃ mālā deva śāvatī / śrīvatsaḥ kaustubhastvaṃ hi śārṅgo tvaṃ ca tatheṣudhiḥ
Garuda (Vinata-putra) praising Lord Vishnu
Concept: Śrī (Lakṣmī/auspicious fortune) and divine power are not external to the Lord; His ornaments and weapons signify inner attributes—grace, sovereignty, protection.
Vedantic Theme: Śakti-śaktimān abheda (non-difference of power and possessor); auspiciousness as Brahman’s manifest attribute in saguna devotion.
Application: Contemplate Śrīvatsa/Kaustubha as reminders of inner purity and divine presence in the heart; practice gratitude and generosity as expressions of Śrī.
Primary Rasa: shringara
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: celestial abode
Related Themes: Garuda Purana (lists of Viṣṇu’s insignia and ornaments in stotra contexts; continuity with weapons in 1.234.26 and cosmic offices in 1.234.28-29)
This verse presents Viṣṇu as identical with His auspicious signs and weapons, emphasizing that remembrance of His attributes is a complete form of devotion and spiritual refuge.
By identifying the Lord with power (muṣṭi-sattva) and protective emblems/weapons, the verse frames devotion as a source of inner strength—an idea repeatedly used in the Purana’s guidance for facing suffering and transition.
Use this as a short Viṣṇu-stuti for daily japa or before rituals, focusing on the Lord as the source of auspiciousness (Śrī) and protection (Śārṅga and iṣudhiḥ).
