Vāyu-Jaya and the Omens of Nāḍī Flow
Elemental and Fortnightly Indicators

Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Dosha: Vata
Concept: Prāṇa-vāyu’s irregular movement is a sign (liṅga) of declining health; careful observation yields foreknowledge.
Vedantic Theme: Deha as an instrument (upādhi) whose fluctuations are knowable; prāṇa as a functional power distinct from the witnessing self.
Application: Observe breath stability; if vāyu ‘wanders’ (irregular/unstable flow) for a sustained interval, reduce strain, seek regimen correction, and monitor illness onset.
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: karuna
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.200 (vāyu/śvāsa-śāstra style omens and bodily signs); Garuda Purana sections on āyurveda/lakṣaṇa (health marks) in the first khaṇḍa
This verse treats vāyu as a key indicator of vitality: when its movement becomes unstable for a measurable period, it signals a decline of health in the embodied person.
It links bodily well-being to the steadiness of vāyu; when vāyu ‘wanders’ within the body instead of remaining regulated, it marks the onset of disorder and weakening.
Use it as a prompt for early self-care: if breath, energy, or bodily regulation feels persistently erratic, prioritize rest and corrective routines (diet, sleep, breath discipline) before the imbalance worsens.
