Lord Vishnu (teaching Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Attentive recognition of bodily symptoms as a basis for timely restraint, treatment, and disciplined living.
Vedantic Theme: Deha-anityatā (impermanence of the body) and viveka (discernment) supporting dharmic self-care.
Application: Monitor changes in touch, sweating, color, and skin sensations; seek appropriate treatment and avoid aggravating habits.
Primary Rasa: bibhatsa
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.164.12-15 (continuation of kuṣṭha/skin-disease lakṣaṇa)
It lists tactile changes (too smooth/too rough), sweating abnormalities, discoloration, burning and itching, numbness, pricking pain, contraction, swelling, and darkening.
By detailing bodily suffering, it reinforces the Purana’s moral frame: embodied pain is part of the soul’s karmic experience, motivating dharmic conduct and purification.
Treat these as warning signs for early consultation with qualified healthcare professionals, while also practicing non-violence, truthfulness, and disciplined living emphasized throughout the Purana.
