bhavetpittānugaḥ śothaḥ pāṇḍurogāvṛtasya ca / upekṣayā ca śothādyāḥ sakṛcchrāḥ kumbhakāmalāḥ
Lord Vishnu (in discourse to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Dosha: Pitta
Concept: Neglect (upekṣā) is a causal factor that transforms a manageable condition into a difficult, severe one.
Vedantic Theme: Pramāda as a binding force; disciplined action (niyama) reduces duḥkha in embodied life.
Application: Treat pitta-associated edema early in pāṇḍu; do not delay care; follow cooling and corrective regimen to prevent kumbha-kāmalā.
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: karuna

This verse highlights a diagnostic principle: when pāṇḍu-roga is present, swelling tends to become pitta-driven, signaling a serious internal imbalance that should be addressed early.
It states that neglect (upekṣā) makes swelling and associated symptoms difficult to cure and can progress into kumbha-kāmalā, indicating an advanced, severe condition.
Do not ignore early warning signs like persistent swelling and jaundice/anemia-like symptoms; seek timely care and correct diet/lifestyle to prevent progression into severe disease.
