Lord Vishnu (in dialogue with Garuda)

Dosha: Mixed

Concept: Tridoṣa interaction: vāta-kapha produces śīta (coldness), yet pitta can manifest as dāha (burning) even within cold-onset states; kapha shows syandana (oozing) and śoṣa (drying/wasting).

Vedantic Theme: Prakṛti-guṇa/doṣa dynamics within embodied existence (deha-dharma) as a field of causality and discernment.

Application: Diagnose mixed-doṣa presentations by tracking dominant qualities (śīta/dāha, syandana/śoṣa) rather than assuming a single-doṣa disorder; tailor cooling/warming and drying/unctuous measures accordingly.

Primary Rasa: karuna

Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka

FAQs

This verse highlights how mixed doṣa conditions (vāta-kapha with pitta influence) produce specific symptom patterns, implying that correct diagnosis depends on seeing combined doṣa effects rather than a single cause.

This specific verse is medical/physiological in theme and does not directly discuss the soul’s journey; it instead contributes to the Garuda Purana’s broader instruction on embodied suffering and its causes.

Use it as a reminder that symptoms can be mixed (coldness with burning, discharge with dryness), so holistic assessment and balanced lifestyle choices are emphasized over one-size-fits-all remedies.
