Lord Vishnu (in discourse to Garuda)
Concept: Devotion expressed through precise upacāras aligned to lunar months; sanctifying food and daily acts by offering to the deity.
Vedantic Theme: Offering (arpana) transforms ordinary acts into worship; supports sattva through regulated conduct.
Application: In Phālguna, worship Vīreśvara with marūbaka; offer sugar, vegetable preparations, and maṇḍa; use mango twig for tooth-cleaning as part of the observance.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Type: temple/household shrine
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.117 (month-wise pūjā and naivedya prescriptions)
This verse treats Phālguna as a specific time for Vīreśvara-pūjā and emphasizes that correct timing and prescribed offerings form part of proper dharmic observance.
It does not directly describe the soul’s journey; instead, it gives ritual discipline (ācāra) instructions—practices that, in the Purāṇic framework, support merit (puṇya) and orderly religious life.
Observe seasonal/monthly worship with simple, sattvic offerings and maintain daily purity practices (like traditional dantadhāvana), focusing on consistency and intention rather than extravagance.
