Dynasty of Kṣatravṛddha: Kāśi Kings, Dhanvantari, Rajī’s Sons, and the Transition to Nahuṣa
धृष्टकेतुस्ततस्तस्मात् सुकुमार: क्षितीश्वर: । वीतिहोत्रोऽस्य भर्गोऽतो भार्गभूमिरभून्नृप ॥ ९ ॥
dhṛṣṭaketus tatas tasmāt sukumāraḥ kṣitīśvaraḥ vītihotro ’sya bhargo ’to bhārgabhūmir abhūn nṛpa
يا أيها الملك باريكشِت، من ساتياكيتو وُلِدَ دْهْرِشْتَكيتو، ومن دْهْرِشْتَكيتو وُلِدَ سوكومارا، سيدُ الأرض كلِّها. ومن سوكومارا وُلِدَ فيتيهوترا، ومنه بهَرغا، ومن بهَرغا وُلِدَ بهارغبهومي.
They are successive descendants in the royal lineage described by Śukadeva Gosvāmī: from Dhṛṣṭaketu came Sukumāra; Sukumāra’s son was Vītihotra; and Vītihotra’s descendant was Bharga.
Bhārgabhūmi refers to a region that became known by the name of Bharga, indicating how places were often named after prominent rulers or sages in Purāṇic history.
It grounds the sacred narrative in a continuous dharmic lineage, reminding devotees that devotion and righteous rule unfold through time under the Lord’s providence, strengthening faith in the Bhagavatam’s historical-spiritual tradition.
