Kṛṣṇa Defeats Bāṇāsura and Receives Śiva’s Prayers
The Śoṇitapura Battle and the Jvara Episode
catvāro ’sya bhujāḥ śiṣṭā bhaviṣyaty ajarāmaraḥ pārṣada-mukhyo bhavato na kutaścid-bhayo ’suraḥ
This verse states that despite being an asura, Bāṇāsura is blessed to remain four-armed, become ageless and deathless, and attain the status of a foremost attendant—free from fear in all directions.
In the narrative of Canto 10, Chapter 63, Śiva intercedes after the battle, asking Kṛṣṇa to spare Bāṇa and grant him a higher destiny; this verse expresses the resulting benediction and protection.
True fearlessness is shown as coming from divine shelter: when one is brought under the Lord’s protection and service, anxiety about all directions and outcomes is removed.
