Dhruva’s Humiliation, Sunīti’s Counsel, and Nārada’s Bhakti-Yoga Instruction
तत्तात गच्छ भद्रं ते यमुनायास्तटं शुचि । पुण्यं मधुवनं यत्र सान्निध्यं नित्यदा हरे: ॥ ४२ ॥
tat tāta gaccha bhadraṁ te yamunāyās taṭaṁ śuci puṇyaṁ madhuvanaṁ yatra sānnidhyaṁ nityadā hareḥ
Both Nārada Muni and Sunīti, the mother of Dhruva Mahārāja, advised Dhruva Mahārāja to worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Now, Nārada Muni is especially giving him directions how this worship of the Supreme Person can very quickly fructify. He recommends that Dhruva Mahārāja go to the bank of the Yamunā, where there is a forest of the name Madhuvana, and begin his meditation and worship there.
This verse directs Dhruva to the pure bank of the Yamunā and the sacred Madhuvana, indicating that tīrthas associated with Hari support focused devotion and remembrance of the Lord.
Nārada guides Dhruva to a place renowned for constant proximity to Lord Hari, so Dhruva can perform steady austerity and bhakti without distraction and attain the Lord’s audience.
Choose a “pure place” and routine—regular association, a sacred space at home, and consistent sādhana—so your mind stays near Hari through daily remembrance and disciplined practice.
