Sukta 16
हिमेव पर्णा मुषिता वनानि बृहस्पतिनाकृपयद् वलो गाः । अनानुकृत्यमपुनश्चकार यात् सूर्यामासा मिथ उच्चरातः
hím eva párṇā muṣitā́ vánāni bṛ́haspátinā́kṛpayad való gā́ḥ | anānukṛ́tyam apúnaś cakāra yā́t sū́ryāmā́sā mithá úccarātaḥ ||
As though the frost had reft the forests of their leaves, so Vala wronged the cows; but by Bṛhaspati they found relief. A deed unmatchable he wrought anew—when Sun and Moon rise up, each in his turn.
كأنَّ الصقيعَ قد سلب الغاباتِ أوراقَها، كذلك ظلم فالا الأبقار؛ غير أنّ بْرِهَسْبَتي أتاح لها الفرج. عملاً لا يُجارى أعاد صنعه—حين يطلع سُوريا وتشاندرا، كلٌّ منهما على نوبته.
