Sukta 3
janitrī́va práti haryāsi sūnúṃ sáṃ tvā́ dadhāmi pṛthivī́ṃ pṛthivyā́ | ukhā́ kumbhī́ vedyā́ṃ mā́ vyathíṣṭhā yajñāyúdhair ā́jyénā́tiṣaktā́ ||
As a mother, thou bearest the offspring forth: I set thee fast—Earth upon Earth. O ukhā, O cooking-pot, upon the altar be not shaken; with the sacrificial implements, with ghee, be thou made firmly adherent.
Rishi: Traditionally connected with Pṛthivī-sūkta transmission (seer attribution varies by anukramaṇī traditions for AV 12.3).
Devata: Pṛthivī (Earth) and the consecrated vessel as ritual locus; implicitly Agni in the ukhā.
Chandas: Mixed/triṣṭubh-jagatī tendencies in the Pṛthivī-hymn section (edition-dependent); this verse scans as a longer pāda-type rather than strict anuṣṭubh.
