In that dreadful great war between the Daiteyas and the Ādityas, the heroic sons of Aditi struck down the sons of Diti in large numbers.
In that great and terrible battle between daityas and devatas, Aditi's sons killed Diti's.
The verse presents the mythic result of a struggle for cosmic balance; Dharma is portrayed as the eventual reassertion of order after violent disorder.
Viśvāmitra summarizes the decisive phase of the devas-asuras war: the Ādityas overpower and kill the Daiteyas.
Valor (śaurya) is highlighted in the Ādityas, though the broader lesson is that force without righteousness leads to ruin.
