Bālakāṇḍa 18
तेषामपि महातेजा रामस्सत्यपराक्रम:।।।।इष्टस्सर्वस्य लोकस्य शशाङ्क इव निर्मल:।
teṣām api mahātejā rāmaḥ satyaparākramaḥ ||
iṣṭaḥ sarvasya lokasya śaśāṅka iva nirmalaḥ ||
Even among them, Rāma—of great radiance and truly steadfast valor—was dear to the entire world; pure and stainless, he shone like the moon.
Among them the highly lustrous and truly mighty Rama was stainless (in character).He was auspicious to the entire world like the Moon.
Satya (truthfulness/reliability) is presented as the foundation of rightful strength: power becomes dharmic when it is trustworthy and morally clean.
The narrator highlights Rāma’s special stature and universal affection, distinguishing him among the brothers.
Purity of character (nirmalatā) and dependable valor rooted in truth (satya-parākrama).
