Narada’s Summary to Valmiki
स तेषां प्रतिशुश्राव राक्षसानां तथा वने ।।।।प्रतिज्ञातश्च रामेण वधस्संयति रक्षसाम् ।ऋषीणामग्निकल्पानां दण्डकारण्यवासिनाम् ।।।।
sa teṣāṃ pratiśuśrāva rākṣasānāṃ tathā vane || 1.1.44 ||
Rāma assented to the sages’ appeal there in the forest, a region troubled by rākṣasas.
Rama promised those ascetics, who resembled flaming fire in lustre living in Dandakaranya inhabited by rakshasas to slay them.
The duty of a righteous hero/king to heed the plea of the vulnerable and to protect those devoted to tapas and truth from हिंसा (violence).
In Nārada’s condensed account, Rāma responds affirmatively to the sages’ request in the rākṣasa-troubled forest region.
Responsiveness to righteous petition and readiness to uphold protection as a dharmic obligation.
